Wesley H. Avery, Esq. received his B.A. with highest honors in Economics from the University of California, Davis in 1980, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1984 and his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1991 with an emphasis in commercial law and bankruptcy. Mr. Avery is also an Adjunct Professor at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona.

Mr. Avery is a Certified Information Privacy Professional, and is legally qualified to act as a Consumer Privacy Ombudsman in the sale or lease of personally identifiable information through the Bankruptcy Court.  Mr. Avery holds a U.S. Corporate Privacy Certification otherwise known as a CIPP  issued by the International Association of Privacy Professionals or IAPP. Wesley H. Avery has practiced only bankruptcy law since 1991; the emphasis of his practice is the sale of personal and real property through the bankruptcy court and he is a panel chapter 7 trustee and the chapter 12 trustee in the Central District of California.  Mr. Avery is admitted to the United States Supreme Court and other federal courts.  He is the Past Chairman of the Board of Legal Specialization, State Bar of California.  Mr. Avery is the Past Editor of the California State Bar Digest and was Chairman of the California State Bar Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission from 2004-2005.  Mr. Avery, a veteran, is a Master of the Bench of the Southern California Bankruptcy Inn of Court and a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees.
